Tyler Andrews set a 50-kilometer track world record Friday at the HOKA ONE ONE Santa Barbara Elite 50K at Santa Barbara City College's La Playa Stadium, running 2 hours, 46 minutes, 6.8 seconds to eclipse the 1980 mark of 2:48:06 set by Great Britain's Jeff Norman. Andrews was also aiming for the overall 50K world record of 2:43:38 set in 1988 during a road race by South Africa's Thompson Magawana, as well as the overall American 50K record of 2:43:45 set in 2011 by Josh Cox during a road race in Arizona.
